About the Item

This vintage cabinet was crafted in the Early Showa Period (1926–). Compact in size and built primarily in Japanese Sen wood. The sliding doors pair keyaki (zelkova) paneling with diamond-pattern textured glass, a quiet mix of wood and glass that suits everyday living. Inside, staggered shelves (chigaidana, traditional offset-height shelves) make it easy to organize teapots and cups as well as small plates and daily essentials. The diamond glass diffuses light and obscures the contents, favoring tidy, discreet storage rather than clear display. Sized for living or dining rooms or a study, the overall presence is calm and composed with a subtle wabi-sabi character. Cleaned and disinfected with a non-toxic solution. The doors and drawers move smoothly. As a vintage piece, minor scratches and marks may be present, each adding to its unique charm and the story it tells over time. It has been carefully inspected and remains in excellent antique condition, with natural signs of age that enhance its character. The interior dimensions are as follows (in inches, with centimeters in parentheses): Glass sliding-door compartment (staggered shelves / chigaidana) Overall interior width: W22.8" (57.8 cm) Shelf depth (both tiers): D7.0" (17.8 cm) Left side openings (from top): H6.8" / H9.3" (17.3 / 23.6 cm) Right side openings (from top): H9.1" / H6.9" (23.2 / 17.4 cm) Drawer interior (each) W10.4" × D10.5" × H4.7" (26.5 cm × 26.7 cm × 11.9 cm) Weight :18.3lbs(8.3kg) Shipping Information We ship from Japan.
