Pair of French 18th Century Régence Period Corner Cabinets Stamped Saunier
About the Item
An exceptional true pair of French 18th century Régence period Rosewood, ormolu, and Coquillier de Bilbao marble corner cabinets stamped Saunier. Each cabinet is raised by fine block supports with elegant pierced foliate ormolu mounts flanking the scalloped shaped frieze centered by a striking seashell and acanthus leaf reserve. Each door is centering with striking central ormolu plaques of beautiful maidens dress in flowing period attire harvesting wheat and a handsome man standing next to a tree holding a jug and a cup. The doors each display remarkable quarter veneered wood backgrounds with foliate ormolu keyhole escutcheons and lovely pierced foliate corner mounts flanked by exceptional fluted designs leading up each side with elegantly fitted brass fillets. The doors open to reveal two shelves and all original hardware. Above are the original Coquillier de Bilbao marble tops with fine mottled borders.
