Pair of French 19th Century Transitional Style Tulipwood and Kingwood Cabinets

About the Item

A striking and extremely elegant pair of French 19th century transitional style tulipwood and kingwood cabinets. Each cabinet is raised by Fine lightly curved legs with richly chased ormolu sabots adorned with hoof feet and large acanthus leaves. The arbalest shaped frieze are centered by lovely pierced ormolu mounts with scrolled acanthus leaves, Fine rosettes and swaging floral garlands. Elegant ormolu chutes lead up each support to the foliate mounts above and flank the beautiful central doors. The doors are decorated with beautiful and wonderfully executed inlaid marquetry scenes of birds amidst water flora and trees. All set on a lovely diamond shaped inlaid background. The doors open to expose one shelf and showcase the finished interiors of the doors decorated with a striking quarter veneered design. Each side also displays lovely inlaid diamond parquetry designs set on recessed panels. Intricately detailed pierced ormolu bands extend along the tops and display beautiful scrolled foliate rinceaux designs with Fine leaves, grape clusters and centered by charming richly chased Bacchanalian cherubs. Above are the original Rouge de Vérone marble tops.
