Queen Anne Trumeau noce, Inghilterra XVIII Century

About the Item

Grande trumeau sorretto da piedini a mensola intagliati, nel corpo inferiore presenta tre cassetti più uno dalle dimensioni ridotte affiancato da due tiretti a sostenere l'anta superiore apribile a ribalta e celante scarabattolo con cassettini, vani portadocumenti e un'antina centrale. Il corpo superiore presenta due tiretti reggicero sormontati da una coppia di ante con specchi, aperte le quali si trova un castello architettonico, con due lesene rastremate che inquadrano due ante e due cassetti centrali, ai lati due file di cassetti, mentre nella parte superiore vari vani portadocumenti e un vano nella parte superiore. Sono inoltre presenti diversi segreti, quali i capitelli delle lesene, estraibili a cassetto. Interamente impiallacciata in radica di noce, mentre tutte le cornici e le colonne intagliate degli interni sono realizzate in noce lavorato di “testa”; presenta caratteristiche bocchette e maniglie (queste anche sui lati) in ottone dorato; interni in quercia. Presente stampiglia “Fordham London”.

A beautiful Queen Anne walnut secretaire chest / escritoire, circa 1710 in date. The upper section features a moulded cornice above a secret bulge front frieze drawer, this is above a hinged fall front clad in burr walnut-figured book veneers framed in broad cross-banded borders edged with feather-banding. The interior housing three pairs of pigeon holes concealing secret compartments above a central cupboard flanked by three side drawers on each side with six further drawers below, all clad in burr figured veneers edged with feather banding and fitted with brass pendant handles. The rear of the central cupboard is a concealed panel that sildes away to reveal four further secret drawers. The base of the chest comprises two half-width drawers above two full width drawers, all fitted with pendant shaped brass drop handles, The cabinet is raised on bracket feet. The walnut secretaire is outlined throughout with decorative herringbone stringing. Complete with working locks and original keys. Condition: In excellent condition having been beautifully cleaned polished and waxed in our workshops, please see photos for confirmation.
