Robert Whitley Sculptural Walnut Studio Craftsman Cabinet, New Hope PA, 1970s

$8,400

About

An incredibly beautiful studio case piece by New Hope craftsman Robert Whitley featuring solid sculptural walnut legs which extend upwards above the top of the cabinet giving this statement piece a bit of a sinister look, highly figured walnut pocket doors with gorgeous wood grain that slide in-and-out as can be seen in the photos, and expertly carved solid walnut door handles - paying homage to Whitley's new hope contemporary, George Nakashima. The size and silhouette of this piece make it a fantastic option for an interior designer or art/design collector to place a Statement piece in the room that catches the eye and provides an excellent conversation starter while also giving ample storage space for blankets and linens, TV/Media equipment, wardrobe / armoire for clothing, accessories and more. Robert Whitley was one of the original artisans from Bucks County who bridged the Craft / Art divide. Whitley was honored with a career retrospective at the Michener Museum with his work held in numerous important public and private collections. This Robert Whitley sculptural studio cabinet would work great in a Post-Modern, Mid-Century Modern, Craftsman, Classical, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room. Also consider mixing it up in a Space Age Mod, Traditional, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. MEASUREMENTS: H 65.75" x W 49" x D 27.5" CONDITION: Very good original vintage condition with beautiful light patina throughout. One water stain on top as can be seen in photos. Interior has cord hole cutouts which can be restored upon request. No shelves, but interior adjustable pegs are there if you wish to add shelves to this piece - contact us for details.
