About the Item

Striking and sculptural, this bar cabinet was designed by Rudolf Bernd Glatzel for Fristho Franeker in the Netherlands in 1956. A hallmark of Glatzel’s refined aesthetic, the cabinet features a richly grained rosewood veneer with beautifully matched symmetrical patterns on the doors. Elevated on a minimalist stainless steel base with a curved wooden stretcher, the design creates a sense of lightness while emphasizing the graphic impact of the rosewood. The cabinet opens to reveal a well-organized interior with multiple compartments for barware or storage, some versions including mirrored backs or glass shelves. This piece is in very good original condition, with minor signs of age that contribute to its authentic mid-century charm. A collectible example of Dutch modernism, ideal for design-led interiors or vintage collections.
