Unique Italian Cabinet Vitrine Tortoise Shells by Ottini Milano 1973

About the Item

This unique Mid-century vitrine cabinet, made from solid oak covered by real tortoise shells fully varnished, was made in Milano by a small design studio called Ottini in 1973. It features three transparent glass doors, with glass shelves inside. Ottini were making pieces of furniture to order for renown architects and interior designers using only high end materials such as goatskin parchment, python, crocodile, and tortoise shells. The color palette and details of the tortoise shells patchwork is just astonishing. The design itself is typical of Italian Mid-century, rounded shapes, remembering Willy Rizzo for Mario Sabot design. A truly unique piece, extremely rare, found in a great vintage condition.

French gilded iron mirrored and brass bar cabinet vitrine 1920s
Located in Paris, IDF
A unique French Art deco vitrine bar cabinet produced in the 1920s. The wrought iron feet are glittering in an antiqued gold gilt finish, with beautiful details, while the mirrored vitrine cabinet part gives the piece a glam twist. Its sophisticated and clean design is typical of the French neoclassical work within the early Art deco movement from the 1920s and 1930s, and offers a timeless look. The interior, for stowing away glasses and bottles, features a glass holder rack and plenty enough space for 15 to 20 bottles. This cabinet would make a beautiful focal piece for a living room with plenty of French Art deco charm. It has been fully restored, and is found in a beautiful vintage condition, with an amazing patina. Two similar cabinets are actually displayed in the main hall of Le Meurice...

Midcentury French Modernist Cabinet Vaisselier, 1950s
Located in Paris, IDF
Warm light brown oak and rich copper form a beautiful color palette in this cabinet vaisselier from the 1950s. On the front and top of the cabinet, the oak displays a striped lightwood/dark wood pattern that feels fun and very much of the era, while the recessed portions of the oak appear to shift into burnt orange for a subtle injection of natural color. Opening the door at the front of the cabinet, a series of small drawers are revealed for hidden storage and organization; the left side of the cabinet is formed by transparent glass, ideal for stowing decorative items or glassware, as well as giving the piece a sense of being filled with light. Though it was created by an unknown French craftsman, this piece is reminiscent of avant-garde designer Jean Royere’s work. Place it in your living room for a unique midcentury French modernist...
