Venetian 18th Century Painted And Giltwood Cabinet Barbara Walters Estate

About the Item

Extraordinary Venetian 18TH Century Italian Painted and Giltwood Cabinet. An incredible nine-foot cabinet from the late Barbara Walters’ Estate. An unbelievable statement piece for any room. Condition of cabinet shows paint chips, cracks and minor separations. Dimensions: 9 feet in height by 58.5 inches wide by 32 inches deep. Ships in two pieces. The following excerpt is a review of Walters’ achievements. Walters was the first female co-host of a U.S. network news program (on NBC’s “Today” show) and the first female network news anchor (on ABC Evening News). She broke barriers rising to the top during her formative years, demonstrating her deft interview skills which received strong ratings from viewers. From co-hosting the top-rated ABC News magazine show 20/20 for 25 years, to her “Barbara Walters Specials, to creating “The View” – a program that empowers the voices of different women – her career spanned over five decades. Her extensive list of interviewees reads like a Who’s Who of the powerful, rich, and famous from the 1970s onwards. They ranged from royalty (King Hussein of Jordan and his wife, Queen Noor, Prince Charles) to every U.S. President and first lady from Richard and Pat Nixon to Barack and Michelle Obama, as well as numerous international political figures, such as Fidel Castro, the Shah of Iran, and cultural icons such as Katharine Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, and Oprah Winfrey. Walters has received national recognition for her work and has been the recipient of numerous prestigious honors and awards, which included 11 Emmy Awards, induction into the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Hall of Fame (1990), a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (2000), and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (2007), though nothing can truly measure up to the pathways she forged for today’s female anchors and television stars.
