About the Item

18th century, Italian Lacquered Wood Chest of Drawers This refined neoclassical chest of drawers, was made in Turin, Italy, towards the end of the eighteenth century. Entirely lacquered, it is decorated with reliefs and pad applications. A tablet is a technique used for bas-relief decoration of furniture. The pad is made with fine putty mixed with glue that was applied to the furniture to decorate them. The front of the cabinet, consisting of two drawers, is decorated with reliefs in the shape of circles and phytomorphic elements characteristic of neoclassicism. The vents of the locks, circular in shape, are in finely gilded and chiseled bronze. The four uprights are slightly projecting from the source, creating a pleasant movement of planes. The architectural design of the furniture is very nice and elegant. The uprights have decorations in the shape of flowers and leaves. The four legs, composed of several elements and with an inverted cone trunk, are also decorated with tablets and lacquered. The side walls of the chest of drawers have in the center a refined pastille decoration with leonine head, phytomorphic elements with circles, leaves and flowers, inscribed within a frame that takes up the one that surrounds the front drawers. The wooden top is entirely lacquered to simulate the grey bardiglio marble, a feature that gives greater warmth and aesthetic softness to the dresser. It is a very elegant and refined piece of furniture that is easily adaptable in any environment, ancient and modern, whether in a living room or study or in the entrances or bedrooms.

18th century, Italian Policrome Lacquered Wood Chest of Drawers This small and elegant chest of drawers was made in Genoa, northern Italy, around the middle of the eighteenth century. This model of dresser is inspired by the models that spread in France in the Louis XV period and to which all the cabinet makers were immediately inspired. It consists of four drawers, of which two smaller upper. It has a wooden structure entirely lacquered in light ocre decorated with floral and foliate decorations and compositions of still life of fruit in shades of red. The handles and mouthpieces of the locks are in finely chiseled burnished bronze, typical of the Louis XV era. The molded top is in Rosso Francia marble, a marble from abroad that at the time was very precious and expensive. The dresser has the front and the sides moved by the move line, legs thin and slightly curved. The front legs are embellished with burnished bronze chiseled tips shaped like acanthus leaf. This piece of furniture is quite rare because of its small size that make it easy to fit into any environment.
