18th Century Large Black Rococo Chest of Four Drawers, Denmark

About the Item

The black painted finish is striking in this attractive large oak chest of four drawers resting on scalloped skirt and curved cabriole feet. While the paint is newer and professionally applied, it compliments the age, rococo style and serpentine curves of this chest that dates back to the late 1700's. The layered black painted finish has been distressed, creating aged character while revealing the natural wood below. Each drawer had two brass pulls making them easy to open and use. This strong and elegant oak dresser has been restored and is ready for use. Drawer bottoms and sides were constructed in pine, typical of the craftsmanship of this era. All scratches, cracks (top and sides), dings, and age related separation (drawer bottoms and back) are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this large chest of four drawers.  Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition, and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting all impact how item is viewed. Photos are part of item description, please ask questions or request additional photos of specific areas if needed.   With over 37 years of experience selling European antiques, our brick-and-mortar storefront, Round Top Ranch Antiques (located in Texas) offers one of the largest curated selections in the nation with over fifteen thousand square feet of inventory to choose from.  We look forward to helping you find the perfect addition to your home or workspace.
