18th Century Regence Provincial Commode

About the Item

This is a very good provincial period Regence carved walnut commode or chest of drawers. The commode features an oxbow form with shaped drawers and a central drop pendant. The feet have stirrups and are in remarkably good original condition. The hardware is old, perhaps original, and in good condition. The commode has had the surface refreshed, but the patina has been retained. Condition:

Additions or alterations made to the original: The surface has been refreshed while retaining the original natural patina. The hardware is perhaps an old replacement. Wear consistent with age and use. There is a slight warpage to the right front edge of top. Otherwise the commode is in great sturdy condition with normal anticipated signs of inactive old worming, the integrity of the wood is not compromised.
