19th Century French Chest Of Drawers with Columns and Firegilt Fittings, c. 1830

Antique cherry wood chest of drawers with columns France Cherry wood around 1830 Dimensions: H x W x D: 88 x 112 x 56 cm Description: Antique French chest of drawers with pleasing dimensions and balanced proportions. A four-tier piece of furniture standing on solid, plinth feet. Solid cherry wood was used for all parts visible from the outside. The fittings contrast beautifully with the wood - handles shaped like lion heads, key plates in the form of coats of arms and a vegetal decorative element on the head drawer. The body is made of frame and panel construction, the individual frame parts are joined together with slots and tenons and fixed with wooden pins. All these wooden pins are handmade and slightly different. The photo, which shows a side view of the chest of drawers, clearly shows the construction method described above. The so-called dust shelves between the drawers are also a nice quality feature. Condition: Refurbished for everyday use and polished with shellac. The drawers run well, the lock works.
