About the Item

A 19th Century French Empire style commode, or chest of drawers, made of solid and veneer of mahogany. Four dovetailed drawers: three with decorative cast brass pulls and escutcheons, above one slim hidden drawer. Locks are present but there are no keys. Turned columns with brass banding. Large carved lion paw front feet. White one-inch thick marble top. Minor veneer loss. Good solid craftsmanship, note the dovetailed construction under the marble. All original. Circa 1850-1870.
