19th Century French Gothic Revival Commode ~ Chest of Drawers in Stripped Oak

About the Item

19th century French Gothic revival commode ~ chest of drawers in stripped oak will make a fantastic choice as your primary storage vessel for clothing. Designed with four drawers rather than two full width drawers, it allows more opportunity for organization. The stately casework is comprised entirely of old-growth oak, which has been painstakingly stripped by our professional in-house staff for a soft visual presence that blends with a wide variety of decors and color schemes. The top is of solid oak planks, and the sides consist of two vertical panels, with bold base molding below transitioning into the cornerposts which are adorned with half-columns carved with spiral fluting and intricate spires. They then provide the framework for the four drawers which are bordered with double rows of wheat motif, and consist of variations on the quatrefoil design framed with gothic geometric molding enhanced with cornered rosettes. Brass bale pulls complete the look. circa 1870s Measures 35 H x 61 W x 27 D.
