About the Item
Carlo X commode hand-crafted in Italy in the early 1800s using fruitwood and decorated with walnut book-matched veneer. The chest is very straight in lines and large, however the delicate veneer, the inlay and the light color make it look much less imposing. The chest features three inset drawers with beautiful hand-made dovetail joints and decorated with book-matched walnut veneer. Additionally, two thin lines of satinwood inlay frame the drawer fronts and connect inlaid flower shapes at the corners. Inlaid leafy shapes are found also on the cantered corners. The sides are flat and also covered by veneer as is the top.
Overall this is a beautiful, large chest of drawers with large drawers that can provide plenty of storage space. A key can be used to open the drawers. Although this piece is 200 years old it has very contemporary lines and the bleached walnut veneer provide it with beautiful decoration and depth. It will look great in a bedroom as well as an entryway.
