19th Century Italian Neoclassical Walnut Commode With Inlay

About the Item

Neoclassical commode handmade in Italy in the early 1800s or late 1700s using fruit wood and decorated with walnut veneer and inlay. The chest has beautiful lines and color. Its shape and lines give it an almost modern look despite being 200 years old. The chest of drawers features three inset drawers with flat fronts decorated with book-matched vertical walnut veneer and a thin double line of inlay along the edge. The pattern of the inlay is repeated on the top, on the side, and along the corners and feet, giving the peace beautiful balance and an elegant decorative touch. Along the bottom of the top, below the first drawer, and along the bottom edge the chest of drawers is decorated by a small hand carved round molding, giving it a bit more depth. Overall this is a beautiful chest of drawers that has straight lines and a timeless look. Because of its elegant look this is a piece of furniture that will look great in a bedroom but also in office or entryway. The drawers work well as long as they're opened using both handles.
