19th Century Original Painted Pine Chest of Three Drawers

About the Item

Original hand-painted chest of 3 drawers flanked by half-columns. Hand painted flowers and flourishes seen here were a traditional folk art design of the era set against a brown faux wood finish. Generations of use are revealed in the distress to the paint, worn down in sections, scratches, nicks, dings etc. Along the top, while difficult to see is the letter "M" to the left and possible "SP" at right. This large pine chest of drawers has been restored; a wax finish adds a soft luster to the piece, and the three drawers function with two brass pulls each. This blanket chest is solid, stable and functional, including drawers. Old repairs seen along the back and bottom of top drawer (replaced at some point), all adding to the function of this chest. All scratches, cracks (see top), dings, dried old wormholes(seen in bottom 2 drawers), and age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this special hand painted chest.
