20th Century Italian Ebonized Chest of Drawers
About the Item
Graceful and ornate, this vintage wooden chest of drawers offers a Rococo fantasy in a somber ebonized finish. Made in Italy in the 20th century, the design takes inspiration from the ostentatious furniture of the Baroque period: the serpentine form of case creates a sense of fluidity and motion, while carved flourishes of foliage and scrolls evoke the effervescent beauty of the natural world. The carved filigree of the apron echoes the forms of the gilded drawer handles; cabriole feet lend the cabinet an elegant stance.
