About the Item

Japan, ca. late 19th century. A fabulous tall and narrow tansu from the late Meiji Period in old red finish. Features handmade wood construction with six tightly fitted storage drawers - each with iron hardware. Open top section most likely had two small sliding doors - now long since gone. However, we especially like the idea of using this space for towels or toiletries in a bathroom. Professionally refurbished the preserve the patina, it is in overall excellent antique condition. Dimensions: 13.5” wide x 24.75” deep x 62.5” high.
