Antique New England Maple Queen Anne Scroll Top Highboy c. 1760

About the Item

A magnificent New England Queen Anne scroll-top highboy, dating to circa 1760, this piece exemplifies the elegance and refinement of 18th-century craftsmanship. The scroll-top pediment, adorned with delicately carved scrolls, features a centered flame finial flanked by two urn-and-flame finials, all original to the piece. Below, a handsome central drawer with a carved shell motif adds a striking focal point to the upper section. The highboy boasts a solid maple construction with a lustrous patina, accentuating the warmth of the wood grain. The graduated drawers are fitted with period-appropriate batwing brass pulls, offering ample storage while maintaining a harmonious aesthetic. The lower section, with its gracefully shaped apron and additional shell carving, rests on elegantly curved cabriole legs terminating in pad feet, a hallmark of Queen Anne design. There has been a repair to the central pier of the pediment top (pictured), which has been executed with care and blends well with the overall presentation. In very good antique condition, this highboy retains its original integrity, with minor wear consistent with age. A superb statement piece, it embodies the refined yet functional elegance of 18th-century New England craftsmanship and would make a striking addition to a period home or fine collection. 88h x 40w x 21d
