About the Item

A very handsome Baltic-Continental mid-19th century neoclassical style walnut commode. The two-door and one-drawer commode is raised by square tapered legs ending with square ormolu sabots. The straight frieze is below two doors with ormolu keyhole escutcheons and ormolu bands framing the rich grain. The doors are flanked by columns with patinated and gilt Egyptian maidens. The drawer above is decorated by ormolu handles and keyhole escutcheon with eagle designs and a twisted rope border. The exquisite top is bordered by an ormolu band. Inside lays an adjustable pine shelf.
