About the Item

Superb Louis XV chest of drawers with all curved sides, in crimped kingwood marquetry in satin frames underlined by boxwood fillets. Opening four drawers in three rows. Beautiful gilt bronze ornamentation. Molded Belgian Gray Saint Edouard marble top. The perfect proportions, the soft and harmonious curves, give this piece of furniture elegance and sobriety. Work of superb quality stamped twice A.GOSSELIN and hallmark of jurande on the front uprights. Excellent condition, restored by our cabinetmaker, natural french polish. Marble, locks and bronzes are original. The frame is healthy and solid. Son of the cabinetmaker Antoine Gosselin, Adrien-Antoine Gosselin obtained his master's degree in 1772 and moved to Versailles, rue Duplessis. He worked for the high aristocracy and received numerous orders from the royal furniture guard between 1785 and 1790, intended for the châteaux of Versailles and Saint-Cloud. His furniture, chests of drawers, secretaries, corner cupboards, in the Louis XVI style, are elegant, simple and beautifully made.
