About the Item

Coppia di comò napoletani d'epoca rococò. Completamente bombati nelle forme, ovvero realizzati con mossa verticale e orizzontale, sono realizzati con lo scafo interno in pioppo e poi lastronati in Bois de violette quadripartito arricchito con bordure in vena contrapposta, riserve sui cassetti e rosone polilobato sui fianchi. Il tutto è giocato contrapponendo la marcata venatura dello stesso legno, anche gli spigoli pronunciati dei montanti e il ciglio dei cassetti sono realizzati in bois de violette lavorato di testa. Il piano presenta sul fondo un alzatina di inserimento ad una boiserie parietale a cui si appoggiano i piani, realizzati in marmo lastronato in un raro alabastro fiorito con bordure in marmo rosso Verona. Secondo i canoni costruttivi della più alta ebanisteria napoletana, i cassetti e il piano, sono separati da un diaframma in pioppo per limitare l'accesso alla polvere. I piedi sono rivestiti da scarpette in bronzo che hanno perso la doratura. Queste applicazioni, come la forma bombata dei mobili sono molto simili alla coppia di comò pubblicata da Alvar Gonzalez-Palacios , unica differenza (oltre alla decorazione ad intarsio) il grembiale del fronte che si abbassa con una doppia mossa sul fronte e con un movimento asimmetrico nei fianchi. Sul retro etichetta di trasporto mentre sotto uno dei piani c'è un etichetta in carta con cera lacca con segnato "C Napoli - 47 - Pignatelli". I mobili arrivano con ogni evidenza da un contesto di lusso estrapolati da una boiserie che doveva rivestire tutto l'ambiente in cui erano inseriti; probabilmente uno studiolo viste le dimensioni insolite e rare dei due mobili. I mobili di quest'epoca, se realizzati per committenze importanti, hanno sempre una scelta di marmi pregiati come si può verificare sugli esemplari conservati al Museo Duca di Martina in villa Floridiana a Napoli. Restauri e piccole mancanze.
