Diminutive 18th Century Block-front Boston Chest

About the Item

A diminutive block-front colonial American chest from the third quarter of the 18th century. Lovely mahogany timber and patina, the chest exhibits a number of characteristics of the workshop of George Bright (1726-1805). Four graduated drawers sit on a base with tall cabriole legs. An original sunflower drop pendant decorates the base. Boston, c. 1770.

    Replacements made: The tall cabriole legs are likely early 20th century replacements, and the bail brasses are also old replacements. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor fading. Very good old finish and otherwise dents, and scrapes commensurate with age.
