English George III Demilune Shaped Painted Leather Chest on Stand

About the Item

..With stud work, hand-forged latches and large side handles. Detailed and colorful banquet scenes. The top opening to a commodious storage well. The originals, popular during late George I through early George II. Georgian at it's most whimsical. The whole on a separate mahogany claw and ball stand (the chest fits down into the stand). Sturdy. In good antique estate condition. Light crackle/wrinkling throughout, irregular darkening and wear of the leather, probably intentional at original manufacture. Typical wear and distress to leather but well maintained with professional touchups. Lock not working but latches work as intended and keep top secured in place. No key . Lock may not be restorable. Slight warpage between top and bottom at key hole (visible in photos ).Sturdy .
