French Directoire Style 4-drawer Chest - Commode in solid oak
About the Item
This chest of drawers is part of the DIRECTOIRE collection, based on the world-renowned DIRECTOIRE style of the late 18th century in France.
This range is characterized by straight, sober, timeless lines, sometimes enhanced by decorative motifs such as fluting, diamonds or lozenges, or Louis XVI rings for the drawers.
The top drawer has removable dividers inside, but is a single drawer, contrary to the appearance of the front, which suggests several false drawers.
The other 3 drawers are "normal" drawers.
All drawer fronts are dovetailed for strength and durability.
The finish combines a "cinnamon" oak stain with a black lacquer on the ends of the top drawer.

The sourcing of the solid wood comes from sustainably managed French forests. The manufacture of each furniture is made accordingly to traditional French techniques of woodworking by small craft workshops in the western part of France.
Each piece is unique and burned with a "G" punch during the finishing process.

MON PETIT MEUBLE FRANCAIS is a new brand launched in September 2018 by Eric Weiler (founder) and Eric Gizard (designer). We deliver 100% made in France high-end and top quality furniture pieces. Main material is wood, mainly ash, oak and cherry. Our wood comes exclusively from sustainably managed French forests. The craft-handed manufacture in the Loire Countryside and Bretagne ensures robustness and a very long life cycle for each piece. All our models are already fully assembled in our workshops. Eric Gizard is a famous French Designer in Paris and works several Fashion and Luxury Brands. He sublimates with his very fluid and elegant design each piece of our collections EGEE and KUBE. More over and previous to the launch of MON PETIT MEUBLE FRANCAIS, in 2010, Eric Weiler took over an old cabinet-maker named GONTIER established in France since 1920. French Traditional pieces and new designed models from GONTIER are also proposed on 1st Dibs.
