French Faux Tortoise Shell Ormolu Mounted Commode, Possibly Jensen
About the Item
Fine and impressive French Regence style faux tortoise shell ormolu-mounted commode with marble top, mid-20th century. The thick marble top over three long drawers all mounted with gilt bronze handles and front is decorated with a Rocaille ormolu scrolling leaf and shell motif forming a cartouche in the center and flanked by ormolu female figures. The commode is raised on cabriole legs ending in gilt bronze sabots.
