French Petite Marble-Top Chest, 19th C.
About the Item
A French small-sized commode with original marble top, from the 19th century. This antique raised chest from France features a beautiful marble top with softly-rounded edges and front corners, which rests atop a case with smoothly-rounded side posts which flank three dove-tailed and graduated drawers (each fitted with a pair of Rococo style pull handles flanking an escutcheon at their center), and scalloped skirting about the front and both sides. This commode is presented upon cabriole style legs. The marble top is a lovely mix of merlot, gray, and white. And custom wood finish is wash of gray with a hint of green undertones, and green accents. This 19th century French commode with marble top, is petite-sized making it a great option as a side chest for a bed or sofa, or perhaps a lovely storage piece for hand towels and toiletries in a powder room.
