19th C. French Black Marble Top End Chest w/Faux Front Drawers over Door
About the Item
A French painted wood side chest with marble top from the 19th century. This smaller-sized commode from France has a black marble top, with case below which houses a single recessed-panel drawer above a pair of "faux-drawers" that are in fact a single door, that opens to provide storage within (this can be viewed in our additional images). This piece is presented upon four shapely legs, with front knees embellished with foliate carvings. The wood has a charcoal finish which still allows for much of the wood graining to show through. This 19th century French commode with marble top is a petite-size chest, making it ideal as an end table, accent piece, or a bedside nightstand.
