About the Item

A French raised fruitwood side chest from the turn of the 18th and 19th century. This antique commode from France features a graceful serpentine shaped front and curvy sides, with rear being spread wider than frontside. There is a lovely banding and marquetry adorning the top, sides, and drawer fronts. The case houses two drawers, fitted with their original brass hardware- a pair of tassel pulls with star-shaped back plates flanking an escutcheon at center. This piece has a gently scalloped skirt and is raised upon delicate cabriole style legs. This French serpentine side chest, from the late 18th to early 19th century, is a great versatile piece offering wonderful display and storage potential.
