French Vintage Marble Top Demilune Chest
About the Item
This striking little demilune chest features exceptional inlaid mahogany in varying varieties that have been thoughtfully book matched and placed about the chest to maximize the beauty expressed through its grain. Made in France in 1965, this vintage chest was created in the style of Louis XVI and underwent a refinishing in November of 2009. This restoration is documented in writing beneath the half moon piece of Breche d’Alep marble which tops the chest, along with the maker’s signature “Vernissage par H.B.B Maco 1965”. Two shaped drawers are housed within the chest and bedecked with cast brass pulls and escutcheons. There are no keys present. Beautiful cast brass ormolu can also be found about the front feet, apron and flanking the bank of drawers.
