Genoise Chest of Drawers with Marble Top, 18th Century Italian

About the Item

This fine 18th century Genoise chest of drawers exemplifies the craftsmanship and design typical of the period. The luxurious marble top features a mix of white, cream grey and reddish hues. The body is crafted from richly polished wood and the use of contrasting veneer patterns of chevrons and diamonds showcases the skill of the craftsman and personifies Genoise design. The chest has a bombé shape on the front and sides creating a sense of movement and elegance. Ornate bronze featuring intricate scrollwork and floral motifs is mounted on the corners, handle, keyhole escutcheons, scalloped skirt and feet. The piece stands on slender curving legs adding to an air of light elegance.
