About the Item

The Alaia commode is made of dramatically grained ziricote wood, lacquer and wenge. Ziricote, indigenous to Mexico, is a non-threatened species often used for fine musical instruments. The interior is fitted with a wenge wood shelf and four Pacific cloth lined drawers. These commodes can be used with the matching Alaia dining table. The leaves can rest on the commodes when the table is in its smallest configuration, eliminating the need for leaf storage. Note: Custom sizes are available. Georgis & Mirgorodsky has designed and completed numerous residential, institutional, and commercial projects in the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean. These include new houses in Southampton, New York, the Bahamas, Montana, La Jolla, California, many New York City townhouses, a pied-à-terre for a South American couple at the Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan, the Tiffany Gallery at the Museum of the City of New York, Casa Lever restaurant in Manhattan, the interiors of a Gulfstream G650 jet, and the renovation of the public spaces of the landmarked Lever House in New York City. In addition the firm has completed the design of Manhattan condominium projects at 350 West Broadway and 530 Park Avenue, and completed designs for the Gramercy Park Hotel. In 1999, 2007, 2010, and 2013 Georgis was included in the AD 100, Architectural Digest’s international guide to the top one hundred architects and interior designers. A monograph of Georgis's work Make It Fabulous: The Architecture and Designs of William T. Georgis was published by The Monacelli Press in 2013. His work has been exhibited at the National Academy of Design and Columbia University, New York; and his work is included in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; The Art Institute of Chicago; and the Denver Art Museum, Colorado.
