Important Big Size Louis XVI Style Commode
About the Item
An impressive Louis XVI style chest of drawers, made at the turn of the 19th and 20th century in France. The furniture is characterized by rich gilded bronze decorations. In the corners, under the top, there are figures of charming cherubs, in a classic baroque version, with highlighted and "puffed" cheeks. Another important element of the decorations is the central application, also in the form of two cherub heads, this time winged. Attention must be paid to the quality of the casts, as evidenced by details such as the perfect reproduction of the face, eyes, hair, or even the thickness and solidity of the applications themselves, which give an astonishing visual effect. The chest of drawers is additionally beautifully inlaid with floral designs on the front and sides. Topped by a thick marble counter with an unusual and elegant pattern.
