Italian 19th Century Louis XV St. Rosewood, Ormolu and Marble Commode

About the Item

A stunning and most unique Italian 19th century Louis XV st. Rosewood, ormolu and Vert Turquin marble Roman commode. The three drawer chest is raised by elegant cabriole legs with fine fitted foliate ormolu sabots. At the center are two sans traverse drawers (without crossbar) showcasing the cabinet maker's high skill set with the bottom drawer displaying a beautiful deep scalloped frieze and both displaying an exceptional bombee shape decorated with exquisite masterfully inlaid quarter veneered Rosewood lattice designs also repeated at the sides. The drawers are adorned with richly chased pierced foliate and seashell ormolu pulls and keyhole escutcheons, and are flanked by impressive foliate corner mounts in a superb satin and burnished finish. Above is the original Vert Turquin marble top with a fine mottled border.
