Italian Cabinet in Layered Paint
About the Item
A painted Italian cabinet.
A wonderful piece of furniture in the most remarkable layered & distressed paint. Raised on turned feet, the two door cupboard sits below two shallow drawers with an unusual locking mechanism & working key. The door fronts are embellished with the most beautiful carved panels featuring stylised urns, flowers & mythical beast heads.
A totally unique piece of furniture and a superb interior decorator's piece.
Cabinet first quarter 20th century, paint later.
Wear commensurate with age, very good overall showing a few signs of age as you'd expect, inner cabinet has been sandblasted so nice & clean, drawers could be cleaned further or lined according to taste. Upper key locks the drawers , lower key decorative & not operational but door stays closed with a roller catch.
