About the Item

Lovely antique Italian cassone sits on two clawed lion’s feet and a moulded base, detailed carved front freize and corners. Hinged lid. Beautiful patina and great condition. This beautifully detailed cassone captures the elegance and historical significance of the period. The combination of its sturdy construction and intricate carvings makes it a striking piece for any room. Warm rich patina with figural carvings, beaded and foliate freize and detailed carving surrounding two center panels and carved lion's feet add character and sober personality. The straight aprons are decorated with foliated carving on the two front corners. The front side of the Cassone contains two rectangular panels. Cassone is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and has a rich walnut patina. Its Italian craftsmanship from circa 1680, along with the walnut patina and excellent condition, speaks to the enduring quality of well managed antique furniture.
