Japanese Antique Wabi Sabi Tansu 1860s-1900s / Storage Box Cabinet Sideboard

About the Item

Very old Japanese wheeled tansu. The furniture was made in the Meiji period (1860s-1900s). It is made of cedar wood. It was found in a village deep in the mountains of the Tohoku region. This furniture was used as a rice chest. This is simple, rustic and beautiful. There is no need for unnecessary design. You can feel the aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi. The atmosphere of this furniture should not be spoiled, Minimal cleaning was carried out. It has been dusted, wiped with water and disinfected. There are insect marks and holes where rats have gnawed. These have been daringly left as beautiful scenery. The previous owner's repairs using iron plates have also been kept intact. All these elements are like beautiful art. I am facing this furniture with the hope that I can leave it for the future. Please consider it if you share this value. Weight approx. 40 kg.
