Large Black Chest of Drawers with Griffins in Gold, Sweden, circa 1840-60
About the Item
A large decorative Gustavian style pine chest of drawers with dramatic "à La Grecque" or Greek key motif in blue and mythical griffins in burnished gold.
Canted fluted side posts with diamond motif, dentil molding and raised on four tapered fluted feet.
Restored, later professional painted in layered black finish, lightly distressed to fit the age of this handsome chest of three large drawers.
Any scratches, cracks, dings, or age related separation are commensurate with age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this lovely dresser.
