Late 1700s Swedish Neoclassical Chest of Drawers
About the Item
Chest of drawers in two parts from late 18th century, northern Sweden. The chest is from circa 1790 which is the Swedish Gustavian era, otherwise known as neoclassical. Typical to the period this chest has original hardware and original handles on all short end sides. The two-pieced construction was a common practice during the late 1700s and the side handles are for carrying each chest. The paint is original and untouched by everything but time which has created the natural and authentic patina. There are some sings of use and distress however on the paint. Healthy and solid fame. Minor dry cracks along the sides. The drawers do not have paint on the inside and the odd drawer have a few old ink stains.
