Late 18th C. Italian Two-Tone Wooden Chest w/Neoclassic Hardware

About the Item

An Italian two-tone painted wood chest of drawers, with great Neoclassical hardware, from the turn of 18th and 19th century. This antique chest from Italy has a rectangular-shaped top which slightly overhangs the case beneath that houses three full sized drawers. The skirt is neat and linear, and this chest is raised upon four squared and slightly tapering legs. Each drawer is fitted with wonderful brass hardware; a pair of Neoclassical urn back-plates with swag pulls, flanking a decorative urn between them. The hardware looks to be original, but we are not certain. The wood has a newer grey finish on the top, drawer fronts, and outlining the legs and sides, which give it a two-toned effect. This late 18th century Italian chest would be great in a bedroom as a dresser, or perhaps within a living room or study, anchoring a nice piece or art or mirror above.
