About the Item

This late 18th century cherrywood commode, dating from around 1790, reflects the refined elegance of the Classical period. Crafted in solid cherrywood, the commode features three full-length drawers, each adorned with its original brass ring handles, decorated with shell and stylized dolphin motifs – a distinctive neoclassical ornament. The warm cherrywood surface has been carefully restored and polished, highlighting the rich natural grain of the wood. The commode stands on tapered feet and displays a clean, architectural silhouette typical for the transition from Louis XVI to Classical style. All drawers are equipped with functioning locks and keys. The piece remains in very good condition, combining over 230 years of history with practical usability. With its timeless design and warm cherrywood tone, this commode harmonizes beautifully in both antique and modern interiors.
