About the Item

This handsome and versatile chest is a handmade faithful copy of a late 18th Century commode in the Louis XVI style. The piece's size makes it perfect for use as a server in the dining room and its desk compartment makes it ideal for the living room, study or a bedroom. What appears to be the top drawer in fact pulls out & drops down to reveal the desk with a figured maple interior with 3 drawers and an old red leather writing surface. Below the desk are 2 long useful storage drawers. The hardware is hand-cast solid brass in motifs appropriate to the style of the piece. The top is white Carrara type hand cut marble. The look and patina of this commode makes it companionable with almost any style of décor from modern to period.
