Louis XVI Walnut Chest of Drawers

About the Item

A 19th century classic chest of drawers in Louis XVI style. Solid walnut wood. Walnut corpus with 2 drawers under a slightly overhanging profiled top plate, standing on square pointed feet and coffered at the sides. Both drawers can be pulled open with exceptionally beautiful large brass drop handles and locked with the original lock and key. Dimensions: 67 cm high / 26.37 inch high, 122 cm wide / 48.03 inch wide, 60 cm deep / 23.62 inch deep. Drawer inside dimensions: 20 cm high / 7.87 inch high, 106,5 cm wide / 41.92 inch wide, 51,5 cm deep / 20.27 inch deep. Restored to a living room standard (including completely sanded, ebonised and resealed). The chest of drawers was probably extensively reworked in the 20th century. The height was extensively shortened and the former three-shelf chest of drawers was transformed into a two-shelf chest of drawers.
