About the Item

During the 1930's and 1940's Art Deco, with its modern. streamlined designs, became the worlds' most popular and widespread furniture style. It was particularly popular in India, as the country developed rapidly and tastes shifted away from 19th century Victorian designs. This chest is made from the best furniture wood in Asia, Teak. Teakwood has a pleasing grain, is remarkably stable, and resists both insects and moisture. Its petite dimensions mean it was probably used for personal storage in a bedroom or office.
