About the Item
Handsome midcentury gentlemen’s chest adorned with a hexagon paneled design and brass hardware and attributed to Thomasville’s Omega Collection. It is in wonderful vintage condition wearing its original finish. It does have small signs of appropriate wear as you would expect for its age but nothing outstanding. Please see photos, circa 1960s.
This is a fabulous gentlemen’s chest and an awesome piece of midcentury furniture which can border a bit on Campaign or Hollywood Regency style. It has lots of style and presence and is made very well. Which would be in keeping with its attribution to Thomasville’s Omega Collection. Comprised of what we feel is a light walnut stained ash. It has a pair of folding doors on the stepped back top portion of the cabinet and two full-width drawers below. The doors which are covered in a faux planked veneer, are adorned with elongated hexagon panels and are operated with brass loop pulls. The drawers have no hardware; but are adorned with recesses at the top and bottom of each drawer front which act as the drawer pulls and, when stacked, form a hexagon shape where the drawers meet. This piece is perfect for wherever you may need beautiful and useful storage be it in a guest bedroom or your master. You know you love and need it. Make it yours!

It is comprised of GORGEOUS rosewood top and drawer fronts bordered by an aluminum strip, grooved handle pulls on the sides of the drawers, cased with black painted sides. It has eight drawers that graduate in size from smaller at the top to larger at the bottom. Maybe you don’t have lingerie?? No worries!! Although it is called a lingerie chest you could certainly use it as a tall, narrow dresser in your bedroom or dressing area. It would be a lovely cabinet to use in a study, office, hall, or entry for linens, books, office supplies, or anything you want to stow away in a phenomenal piece of mid-century modern excellence. Glenn of California was owned by father and son team Isaac and Robert Baron and based in Arcadia California and has been credited for being at the forefront of the West Coast modernist design movement in the 1940’s and 1950’s. The company made a name for itself when it hired Milo Baughman. They would go on to hire Swedish architect and designer Greta Magnusson-Grossman, the first woman to receive an award from the Swedish Society of Industrial Design. The significant furniture line she and Baughman designed called the California Modern Collection became known for its laid-back Los Angeles style and integration of walnut, iron, and Formica. Glenn of California collaborated with many notable designers including Kipp Stweart, Paul Laslo, John Kapel, & Stanley Young.
