Original Painted Large Chest of Three Drawers dated 1894

About the Item

The lovely floral painted wreaths painted along the top of this large chest of 3 drawers is all original; look closely and you will see a name and faded date of 1894. This traditional folk art design of the era is set against the brick red/brown finish. Generations of use are revealed in the distress to the paint seen throughout this chest, worn down in many sections revealing the natural pine wood below. At some point in its past, someone painted soft yellow/buff along the front of the three drawers while allowing the faint residual original painted flowers and border to slightly show through. This blanket chest has been restored, is solid, stable and a wax finish adds a soft luster. The three drawers function/open with two brass pulls each. All scratches, cracks, dings, and age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this special hand painted chest. Many sections especially around the top show more wear, cracks and distress. Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition, and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting all impact how item is viewed. Photos are part of item description, please ask questions or request additional photos of specific areas if needed.
