About the Item

The simple, clean lines of this charming pine chest of three drawers reflect its Swedish country styling. The original brick red painted finish has been distressed through generations of use to reveal the natural pine wood below adding depth of character to this dresser. Note most extensive distress/wear to painted finish is along the top (refer to photos) including multiple stains. Restored, ready to be used and enjoyed. Each of the three drawers open using an old skeleton key as a pull (locks no longer function). All scratches, cracks, dings, and age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this charming chest of drawers. Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition, and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting all impact how item is viewed. Photos are part of item description, please ask questions or request additional photos of specific areas if needed. Late 18th C. Swedish Chest w/Traditional Swedish-Red Color &Faux-Marble Top
Located in Atlanta, GA
A Swedish painted wood chest of three drawers, with faux marble top, from the turn of the 18th and 19th century. This period Gustavian chest from Sweden, designed in clean lines, features a hand-painted faux-marble top, with lovely dentil trim just beneath the top ledge, and case which houses three full-sized and graduated drawers. The skirt is linear and and the case is raised up on four squared legs. Brass ring pulls flank the escutcheon set between them (note that hardware is not original). The darker faux-marble color of the top contrasts nicely against the traditional Swedish red color of the rest of the body; we believe the finish to be either original or quite old. This late 18th century Swedish...
