About the Item

A striking pair of Swedish chests of drawers, crafted in the second half of the 19th century and finished in a richly patinated blue paint with traces of natural wood peeking through. Each chest features three spacious drawers fitted with elegant brass handles and decorative escutcheons, lending a refined contrast to the weathered surface. The dentil molding along the top edge and the fluted detailing on the sides add classical Gustavian charm, while the carved feet offer a sense of lightness and lift. Crafted from solid pine, these pieces were built with both durability and beauty in mind. The scale and symmetry of the pair make them ideal as bedside tables, living room anchors, or statement storage in a hallway. Their soulful color, graceful lines, and historic character embody the timeless appeal of Swedish country elegance.

Vintage Pair Chest of Drawers in Pale Blue

A pair of painted wood chests from American furniture maker Kittinger Furniture. These vintage made-in-America chests each feature a rectangular-shaped top over a has which houses four graduated and dove-tailed drawers, set within canted and flute-carved front side posts. A petite beaded trim outlines the bottom perimeter of the chests, which are raised upon four bracket style feet, which give the otherwise linear skirt a bit of shape and interest. The upper drawers each have dividers for storage organization. Each drawer is fitted with its original heavy brass hardware pulls. The chests have a new custom pale blue finish, which still allows much of the wood grain to show through from beneath.
