Pine Highboy Chest of Six Drawers, Denmark circa 1880

About the Item

This antique pine chest of drawers or "highboy" has 6 drawers, providing ideal storage in a narrow space. The simple carving along the sides and bun feet were traditional style elements in furniture crafted in the 1800's in Denmark. Notice there are 3 brass pulls on each drawer, 2 on the sides to open drawers and the central serves as a key hole cover (hardware is reproduction in old style). Restored and waxed, this 6-drawer chest is solid, stable and ready for use; drawers function. Age related signs of wear such as nicks, scratches, old stains, etc. are a reflection of generations of use and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this handsome pine highboy. With over 37 years of experience selling European antiques, our brick-and-mortar storefront, Round Top Ranch Antiques (located in Texas) offers one of the largest curated selections in the nation with over thirty thousand square feet of inventory to choose from. We look forward to helping you find the perfect addition to your home or workspace. Thank you for visiting our online store!

Scottish Pine Gentleman's Chest of Six Drawers
Located in Baltimore, MD
What a handsome chest of drawers! It’s a long time since we last offered a Scottish chest of drawers and this one is a beauty. The piece is built in two sections, necessary for negotiating narrow passages and staircases. The upper section has three deep drawers with the flow of their serpentine fronts unbroken by knobs or pulls. Instead the drawer fronts have finger pulls carved into their undersides. These are flanked by serpentine corbels with a deep flute in the center. The 6.5"high splashback is removable, making the height 48.5". The lower section has three slightly graduated drawers, inset, with wooden knobs. They are flanked by almost full columns, banded, ending in a tall turned foot...
